The newly created College Football Playoff system selected the four teams that will compete for the right to play in the national championship game on January 12^th. The semifinal games were held on January 1^st, with 2^nd ranked Oregon University defeating 3^rd ranked Florida State University by a score of 59 – 20 in the Rose Bowl.
